As a leading manufacturer of composite products GTR is constantly looking for modern and innovative ways in which it can meet its customers’ requirements, staying at the front in its field.   Part of this strive for manufacturing excellence is achieved by investing in state-of-the-art technology and equipment, using this to aid in the design and manufacturing process of composite components.  A capability we have found essential in this process is that of 3d printing, or in technical terms additive manufacturing.  GTR boasts four Stratasys Fortus industrial-sized Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printers and one compact Fortus 250mc printer.  These industry-leading machines enable GTR to produce complex and intricate parts whether they be a one off or part of a large production run.

GTRs 3D Printing Division doesn’t just offer 3D printing services but enables groundbreaking solutions that redefine the possibilities of additive manufacturing. With a strong legacy spanning over 20 years as industry pioneers in composites, GTRs commitment to quality and innovation is unwavering. Our 3D Printing Division is the culmination of this legacy, powered by cutting-edge technology and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Using SR-30 material these machines produce our unique SR-30 Mandrels and enable precise, repeatable runs.  Through a rigorous process of inspection and testing the mandrels are able to steer the creation of carbon composite components with 100% repeatable accuracy.

This enhanced capability is enabling GTR to expand its customer base beyond the traditional F1 world.  GTRs capability for manufacturing innovation and excellence has been utilised in the production of world leading advanced prosthetic limbs.  Our FDM machines were used to produce intricate arm moulds using SR-30 material. These moulds, encased in carbon fibre, underwent a meticulous curing process the outcome of which was a life changing prosthetic arm earning widespread acclaim in the medical world.

Another area of innovation GTR has utilised this capability in is to manufacture jigs and fixtures, which themselves are essential elements of any manufacturing process.  These have been created using ABS-M30 or Ultem 9085 material in our FDM machines providing alternative and more efficient production of key elements of manufacturing.

GTR has its roots in the motorsports industry but through its novel approach and drive for excellence has now expanded this to include the automotive, aviation, marine and medical sectors with wider applicability in virtually every field of endeavour.  GTR is able to produce detailed and intricate scans of components, convert these in to a useable digital format for further modelling or refinement subsequently production.
