GTR Bespoke Paint & Finishing Studio Marks Five Years of Growth with Several High Profile Commissions
Five years on from the opening of its state-of-the-art bespoke paint and finishing facility, GTR Composites Group (GTR) is celebrating continued expansion, several marquee projects and fresh investment. The expanded capability further cements its position as a leading supplier of finished composite components to the world’s most prestigious automotive marques.
Since gaining production line approval from two leading supercar manufacturers shortly after first launch, GTR’s bespoke paint and finishing studio has delivered a series of high-profile commissions. Most recently, the studio completed the finishing of carbon-fibre monocoques for a leading ultra-lightweight hypercar manufacturer. Built at GTR’s Fontwell headquarters and subject to stringent construction inspections, the bare carbon monocoques were transformed by the bespoke paint and finishing team into OEM-standard paint works of art. The combination of satin and gloss finishes over black tinted visual carbon created a striking effect and huge customer satisfaction.

Alongside factory standard finishes, GTR has produced highly detailed bespoke variants featuring painted graphics, pinstripes and seamless transitions between satin and gloss, demonstrating exceptional precision and surface control. GTR has also partnered with a rare supercar and race car manufacturer on multiple projects, applying complex painted graphics and pinstriping across interior and exterior components for vehicles showcased at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Ongoing investment underpins the studio’s capabilities and recent upgrades include:
- Installation of a second Nova Verta downdraft spray booth to increase throughput, productivity and cleanliness.
- An ultramodern PPG colour matching system with multi-angle camera capture linked to the PPG colour library. This enables exact mixing of historic, modern and bespoke colours without access to original colour codes, including creation of completely one-off colours for bespoke projects.
- Continued in-house support for obsolete or bespoke parts via 3D printing and precision machining, ensuring complete turnaround for classic and supercar restorations.
GTR’s bespoke paint and finishing studio maintains rigorous quality control and testing processes, measuring gloss, film thickness, adhesion and surface hardness. The studio works to ISO 9001 standards to ensure repeatable, auditable results for OEMs. GTR also restores high-value classic and supercars to showroom condition for private clients, undertaking all works from a full strip and bare metal repaint to a sympathetic refresh to preserve originality. Any obsolete parts are sourced or re-manufactured by GTR in-house 3D printing and machining capability, ensuring a perfect, long lasting finish every time.
The facility complements GTR’s wider composite manufacturing capability, which includes ten in-house autoclaves and a skilled workforce capable of delivering precision components across motorsport, aerospace, defence, marine and medical sectors.
Simon Kingdon-Butcher, Co-Founder, Owner and Director at GTR, said: “Our bespoke paint and finishing studio was set up to deliver fast turnarounds and factory-ready finishes for the most demanding client standards. Seeing the ultra-lightweight hypercar monocoques leave our studio to the exacting standards expected by such an iconic marque is immensely rewarding. The recent investments in capacity and colour matching capability mean we can deliver even more complex, bespoke and historically accurate finishes – maintaining GTR’s promise of quality, speed and technical excellence.”
